No, we do not ship our products at this time.

 

How do I apply for a job?

Lovin Oven Cakery offers many different positions, such as store front staff, cake decorators, and bakers. If you are interested in applying, please print off an application found here. Complete the application and bring it in to one of our store locations and be prepared to have a quick discussion with a manager.  Applications are reviewed weekly.

Product Orders

To purchase a specific product should I order in advance?

Yes. We do not make every day each of the products we offer. To ensure that we have the item in stock, please call us at (847) 231-4700.

 

How much notice do you need on cake orders?

In our Round Lake Beach location we require 48 hrs on most requests.  Occasionally we can accommodate requests within 24 hrs.  In Antioch most request can be accommodate within 24 hrs.  In both locations some decoration, frosting, or cake options will require up to 72 hrs to complete. Tiered cakes and some fondant requests need a minimum of one week to complete.

 

What about cookie orders?

We require a (3) three-day notice on all special orders. Basic cookies, such as the ones available in our store, typically are ready for pickup the next day provided that we have advance notice of at least (1) one-day.

 

Can you personalize a cookie?

Yes. For an additional charge, we can personalize any cookie for you. We can write names and numbers, draw pictures, or even scan a photo onto fondant paper and put that on your cookie.

 

What size cake do I need?

Please refer to our cakes page for serving sizes.

 

Can I reserve a cake from your store for pick up later today?

Yes; however, only our torte cakes are available every day. We can inscribe on them any message you would like.

 

Do I need to make an appointment to talk about wedding cakes?

We recommend that you make an appointment. Call our wedding consultant at 224-788-9558 ext 315 to schedule a free consultation and cake sampling. All wedding consultations are provided at our Antioch location only.

 

Special Food Needs

Do you offer sugar free products?

Yes. We bake sugar-free pies, sugar-free rugulach, as well as sugar-free yellow and chocolate cakes.

 

Do you offer gluten-free products?

No. However we do offer a flourless cake slice that does not contain flour as an ingredient in its recipe. We cannot guarantee, even with the greatest degree of care, that any of our products are free of allergens. We routinely use allergens in our shop and the risk of cross-contamination is very high.

 

Do you offer peanut free products?

Yes, but we kindly ask that anyone with a severe peanut allergy avoid our products. We use the same machinery for both our nut and nut free products; thus, it is impossible to guarantee that there are no traces of nuts in our nut-free products.

 

Cakes

Are the cakes on your website the only cakes available?

No, we have hundreds of cake designs, and we will be happy to help you create your own custom cake.

 

Do I have to refrigerate my cake?

Whipped cream, Cream Cheese, and Fudge Cakes - Refrigerate

Buttercream cakes- do not always need to refrigerate

 

How long can I leave my cake out?

Butter cream cakes- most can be left out, refrigerate if unsure, shaped or tiered

Whip cream Cakes - Leave them out for no more than (1) one or (2) two hours at a time.

Fresh Fruit Cakes - Leave them out for no more than (1) one hour at a time (less in hot weather).

3D Cakes - Refrigerate them until 15 minutes before serving.

 

Do you put pictures on cakes?

Yes. For an additional charge, we can add a picture to your cookies or cakes.

 

What is the difference between yellow and white cakes?

Yellow cakes sometimes referred to as vanilla cakes, contain egg yolks.

 

Can I order a side-by-side cake?

Yes. We offer a half and half cake (half yellow/half chocolate).

 

What is the difference between whip cream and butter cream?

Butter cream - mostly butter, denser, sweeter frosting, no refrigeration needed.

Whip cream - lighter frosting, needs to be refrigerated.

 

What is a smash cake?

The smash cake is a yellow cake iced in a pink or blue butter cream. For a 1st birthday celebration, you can receive a complimentary smash cake with the purchase of a separate cake from Lovin Oven Cakery. And, for an additional charge, we can decorate the smash cake any way you like.

 

Can I order a 3D cake iced in whip cream?

No, because whip cream has no structure and thus provides no stability. The cake will fall apart when we attempt to move it.
